First Energy Fremont Energy Center – Natural Gas-Combined Cycle Power Plant
Matrix NAC was the prime contractor for the construction of a 585 MW Natural Gas-Combined Cycle Merchant Power Plant for First Energy Fremont Energy Center, located in Sandusky County, Ohio. The scope of work activities included the installation of all equipment and building foundations, mechanical installation and alignment, structure steel erection, HRSG installation, and excavation and backfill. Subcontract work included site preparation work, H-pile and sheet pile installation, electrical, piping, tank erection, cooling tower erection, heavy hauling, insulation, sheeting, painting, architectural finishes, fencing and other miscellaneous subcontractors.
The Owner supplied two (2) Combustion Turbines and Generators (Siemens Westinghouse), the Steam Turbine/Generator (Siemens/Westhinghouse), the Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG’s - Nooter Erikson), transformers and all parts associated with these items. The project poured over 20,000 cubic yards of concrete for this facility. At times the pours exceeded 160 yards per hour.
