Confidential Client – Liquid Hydrogen Sphere – Fall 2021

Matrix Service was awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a cryogenic double wall liquid hydrogen storage sphere for a new greenfield hydrogen production facility for a confidential client in the Winter of 2019. The project was mechanically complete in the fall of 2021.

60’ 6” diameter CS outer sphere
51’ diameter SS inner sphere
Evacuated Perlite insulation
Design minimum temperature for inner sphere is -423° F
Pressure Build Up Coil (PBUC) units w/ interconnecting piping
Ringwall foundation
Sphere coatings
Fireproofing on legs
